Doing Me is a short song that is requested to be the official sound of the Happy Soju Dance Challenge. The challenge is part of Happy Soju brand activation to raise awareness & increase engagement on their TikTok & Instagram account.
The client requested me to create a short song that mimics the sound of a rising new K-pop girl band, NewJeans. This is a sample of their music, titled OMG, which is still their biggest song at the moment.
After analyzing the song, I gathered similar synth & drum sounds that share a similar sound with the OMG song. I feel like the drum on the bridge part heavy a very high energy so I arranged my drum sounds in similar manner. And since the chord on OMG song has the RnB vibe to it, I decided to add a repeating 9th chord pattern with a diminished as a subtle transition to complement the drum.
After completing the music, I have this idea of simple vocal tracks that enhance the idea of being happy as it is a part of Happy Soju brand message. I choose the term "doing me", which is a way of saying being happy in our own way. The lyrics are as follows:

The vocal is created using the text-to-speech feature from Capcut and then chopped and rearranged in the file project.
